Guatemalan Worry Dolls
My boyfriend just got back from Guatemala and he brought me back a handmade Guatemalan Worry Doll. Apparently, Guatemala is rich with folklore and this is just one of many superstitions that they subscribe to. The way it works is that you are supposed to take the tiny(its about an inch tall) doll out of her bag and tell her your worries before you go to bed and then you put her under your pillow and supposedly when you wake up, your worries are gone. I am fascinated with this kind of tradition and it made me think that really the only place in America where these kinds of practices still exist are in New Orleans, famous for its voodoo history.
