In Argentina, the judicial committee of the Buenos Aires city council voted to sack the city's mayor, Anibal Ibarra. He was accused of complicity in the deaths of 194 people in a fire at a nightclub "Cromanon" in December 2004 because of his alleged failure to root out bribery and inefficiency.
