Correa wins referendum, changes in store for Ecuadorean Congress
With 78% of the vote, Ecuadorean President Rafael Correa won a referendum that will set up an assembly to rewrite the nation's constitution. The opposition fears that Correa will centralize power, weakening a Congress that many consider hopelessly corrupt. The referendum is similar to tactics used by fellow leftist leaders Hugo Chavez and Evo Morales in Venezuela and Bolivia.
