"Peru stiffens penalties for attacks"

Recently the peruvian congress voted unanimously to approve a new harsher law, that makes murdering or severly injuring a tourist punishable by life imprisonment. It also lengthens the punishment for drugging or assaulting tourist. This demonstrates the importance of tourism in the Peruvian economy, especially since previously only terrorism and rape of a minor were punishable by life imprisonment. For more information go to
