The US Influences Abortion in Latin America?

Abortion is more common in Latin America than in Europe, depsite the fact that Latin America has very strict abortion laws. Apparently the culture of Abortion in Latin America is changing after the UN condemned some the more recent abortion cases in the region. Interestingly enough, the US is exercises some control over abortion in Latin America by not giving funding to family planning groups that discuss abortion.
