Presidential Election in Ecuador
In the ongoing presidential election in Ecuador, a leftist nationalist and friend of Hugo Chavez stands to take the country's highest office. Rafael Correa has threatened to reduce payments on Ecuador's foreign debt and in an unofficial poll has gained 56.9% of the national vote.
